Produced by Pago de Vallegarcía, the composition of Petit Hipperia slightly changes with each vintage.
Besides, each bottling of this Spanish red wine comes with a slightly different label, with a horse-the emblem of the winery-as a recurrent motif.
The 2020 vintage is made from 34% Syrah, 35% Cabernet Franc, 24% Merlot, 1% of Cabernet Sauvignon and 6% Petit Verdot, coming from vineyards situated in the Cabañeros National Park, at 850 metres of altitude, in the Toledo mountain range.
After a meticulous harvest, the grapes were macerated for 3-4 days and separately vinified in stainless steel tanks with periodic punch-overs and pump-downs.
Subsequently, Petit Hipperia 2020 completed malolactic fermentation in oak barrels.
Finally, this Crianza red wine from designation VT Castilla was aged for 12 months in the barrels.
Appearance | The wine Petit Hipperia is medium ruby with a garnet rim and some violet tinges. |

Nose | This interesting blend of Syrah, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot exhibits some intense aromas of fruit, balsam and toast, underpinned by suggestions of terroir, undergrowth and liquorice. |
Palate | Pleasant and mild, with a fresh acidity and some savoury tannins. Black fruit is the dominant note of this wine of Pago Vallegarcía with a dash of spices and balsam and some toasted and earthy remembrances. This red wine from Castilla has a long, complex finish. |
