Bodega Plana d’en Jan, a praiseworthy family project specializing in microvinifications of outstanding vineyards located in DO Penedès, crafts the red wine Plana d’en Jan Bon Jan Negre solely from a low- yielding vineyard planted in 1989.
The main variety of this Spanish red wine is Ull de Llebre (aka Tempranillo), complemented with 5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 5% Merlot. Composed of rocky and limestone soils, the 1.29-hectare plot is farmed using environmentally friendly and sustainable techniques.
After a meticulous manual harvest, the grapes were selected and destemmed before being macerated with the skins for 12 days. This red wine from Penedès was subsequently fermented in stainless steel tanks with native yeasts under controlled temperature.
The malolactic fermentation of the red wine Plana d’en Jan Bon Jan Negre 2019 was completed in 300- litre French oak barrels and 500-litre Caucasian oak barrels, in which the wine was also aged for a period of 4 months.
Once bottled, this Crianza red wine was kept in the cellar for some years before being released onto the market.
Only 1,851 bottles produced.
