The most interesting feature of the wine Proelio Crianza is that this blended Spanish red wine is sourced from old vineyards scattered across some little explored regions in DOCa Rioja
More specifically, this blend of Tempranillo, Grenache and Maturana Tinta produced by Bodegas Palacios Vinos de Finca comes from the following areas: Sonsierra Riojana and Alavesa, Alto Najerilla, Laderas del Moncalvillo and Albelda de Iregua. The vines, planted at an altitude around 750 metres above sea level, are 40 to 70 years old.
Hand-harvested, the grapes were selected on site and then separately vinified. The Tempranillo was fully destemmed, whereas the Grenache was fermented whole bunch. This red wine from La Rioja was fermented with native yeasts under controlled temperature.
After that, the wine Proelio Crianza 2019 was aged for 12 months in French, American and Eastern European oak barrels. The the wine was transferred into concrete diposits to stabilize it.
Finally, this Crianza red wine was bottled and aged for a further 20 months before being released onto the market.
