One of Ribera del Duero's all-time classics, the wine Protos Gran Reserva is a varietal Tinta del País (Tempranillo) is sourced from low-yielding vines over 60 years of age.
This exquisite Spanish red wine was made from grapes that were harvested by hand at their optimal ripening point and meticulously selected, both on site and in the cellar.
First, this red wine from Ribera del Duero was fermented in stainless steel tanks. After that, this Gran Reserva red wine from Bodegas Protos was transferred into 80% French oak barrels and 20% American oak barrels, where it was aged for 24 months.
Finally, the wine Protos Gran Reserva 2016 was aged for a further 36 months in the cellar prior to its commercial release onto the market.

Nose | Classy and nicely balanced, this varietal Tinta del País suggests some delicate notes of cassis, blackberries and cranberries, with some flecks of toast, liquorice and cocoa over an earthy and mineral background. |
Palate | Elegance, intensity and depth define this wine from Bodegas Protos. A note of menthol and pine needles nuances some lively flavours of black fruit and spices. The wine has a seamless texture and a velvety body, with some ripe, suave tannins, and a well-balanced acidity. Long finish with remembrances of blackcurrants and cocoa. |
