Details
This is the new vintage of the wine Protos El Grajo Viejo, a single varietal Tinta del País produced by the prestigious Protos winery.
This premium Spanish red wine is only produced in exceptional vintages. It is made from grapes coming from 18 little plots scattered over some of the best terroirs in the whole of Ribera del Duero. The vines are almost 80 years old, have extremely low yields and are located at an altitude of 800 metres above sea level.
The grapes of this red wine from Ribera del Duero were manually harvested and selected twice, once in the vineyard and once in the cellar.
Alcoholic fermentation took place in large new French oak barrels, after the completion of which the wine was macerated for 4 weeks.
After that, the wine Protos El Grajo Viejo 2019 was transferred into French oak barrels from different cooperages, where it completed malolactic fermentation and was aged for over a period of 18 months.
Finally, after its bottling this old-vines Tempranillo was aged for a further 12 months before its commercial release.
Decant this Crianza red wine 40-60 minutes before drinking.

This Crianza from Ribera del Duero suggests some deep mineral undertones, and some toasted notes and suggestions of truffles, charcoal and graphite. |
| Palate | Bold and concentrated, this wine of Bodegas Protos has big bones and a rock-solid structure. Velvety and kaleidoscopic, it has some room for growth, as fruit and oak ageing are slowly coming together. El Grajo has an extraordinary acidity, bold tannins and extremely long, complex finish. |
