Red Wine Racorell 2021
Crianza red wine from Priorat. Blend of Red Grenache, Grey Grenache and Hairy Grenache fermented in concrete diposits and aged for 12 months in wooden vats.
Availability: In stock
The red wine Racorell is produced by Mas de l’A, the latest wine project of the ever inquisitive Alfredo Arribas.
This blended Spanish red wine is a most interesting combination of three strands of Garnatxa (Grenache): Red Grenache, Grey Grenache and Hairy Grenache. A field blend, the vines are planted in red clay and slate soils at 500 metres above sea level, in DOQ Priorat.
Hand-picked at their optimal ripening moment, the grapes were half destemmed and then macerated and fermented in concrete diposits with indigenous yeasts. After that, the wine Racorell 2021 was aged in big wooden vats for 12 months. It was bottled unfiltered.
Decant this Priorat red wine some time before drinking.
Pair this Crianza red wine with roast recipes and cold meats.
Appearance | The red wine Racorell is deep ruby with a violet rim. |

Nose | This blend of Red Grenache, Grey Grenache and Hairy Grenache is as suggestive as one might expect given its uncommon composition. Complex and somewhat elusive, with subtle notes of balsam, Mediterranean garrigue and flowers, a note of red berries and subtle hints of exotic spices. |
Palate | This wine from Mas de l'A of Alfredo Arribas shows an unmistakable Priorat character, but not as brooding and monolithic as many wines from that region. Fresh and ever-evolving, with a steely acidity and a solid, but not super tight structure. Charateristic and appealing, with exquisite red berries, a sweet-sour note in the mid palate and a gently mineral aftertaste. |
Our personal opinion | A very original Grenache field blend, the wine Racorell 2021 shows that a different kind of Priorat is indeed possible. |
