Product Description
Details

Produced by Josep Grau through his company Josep Grau Viticultor, the wine Regina is an atypical and interesting Spanish rosé wine from Montsant, produced along the lines of the famed southern Rhône rosés from Tavel.

The wine is made from a blend of 90% Grenache and 10% White Grenache. Both come from Finca Les Comes, an organically farmed half hectare parcel composed of slate and limestone soils, planted with 50-year-old vines.

All of the farming procedures were performed manually, from harvesting to bottling and labeling. Spontaneous fermentation took place in 600-litre Austro-German oak barrels using indigenous yeasts. Then, the wine was aged on its lees for 7 months.

Going beyond the low-profile, light-hearted rosé wines that dominate the market, the wine Regina 2023 sets a new paradigm for Catalan rosé wines because of its noteworthy complexity.

Production of this Crianza rosé wine from Montsant is very limited.

Appearance

The rosé wine Regina is deep salmon with some rosy tinges.

Nose

Complex and intriguing, this blend of old-vines Grenache and White Grenache conveys some aromas of fresh and withered roses, aromatic herbs, white and yellow fruit, lavender, garrigue and sweet spices.

Palate

Smooth and creamy, this rosé wine from Josep Grau Viticultor has a luxurious texture and a very good acidity. This Crianza rosé wine is packed with red fruit, flowers and spices, punctuated by some earthy and spicy intimations. Long, refreshing finish with some bitter remembrances.

Our personal opinion

Terroir-driven and impeccably crafted, the wine Regina 2023 is a substantial rosé full of flair and finesse.

If Spain had 5 more rosé wines like this, I'd rarely drink Provence rosés. This is simply phantastic. The smell, the flavours, the acidity... Everything!!
