The wine Roig d'El Camp Vell - formerly known as Ianvs 2 - is an interesting low-sulfite red wine made by Ianvs Vins, the wine project of Rubén Talavan and Sascha Koch, both with a long experience in the wine trade.
To underscore the terroir-driven approach of the project, this minimal intervention red wine is named after El Camp Vell, a small vineyard with soils of decomposed schist located in Mollet de Perelada, Girona, not far from the Catalan-French border.
An interesting blend of made from Grenache (70%) - from 40-year-old vines - and Monastrell (30%) - from younger vines - the grapes were harvested on the 23rd of August, after which this Spanish red wine fermented spontaneously in stainless steel tanks (20% full clusters).
After that, the red wine Roig d'El Camp Vell 2024 was kept for a few months in the tanks before being bottled on March 13, 2025.
Made at the facility of Celler La Vinyeta in the Empordà region, this eye-catching young red wine has a moderate ABV and a very low sulfite content (<10 mg/litre).
Only 630 bottles produced.
Appearance | The red wine Roig d'El Camp Vell is pale ruby pink with some reddish reflections. |
---|---|
Nose | This blend of Grenache and Monastrell showcases aromas of redcurrants, strawberry leaf and violets, with a dash of menthol and aromatic herbs and a stony undercurrent. Daring and quite original. |
Palate | This wine of Ianvs Vins is linear and supple, with a floral and balsamic edge to the crunchy red fruit, supported by a vibrant acidity and ending with a eucaliptus and mineral note. |
Our personal opinion | The sophisticated red wine Roig d'El Camp Vell 2024 is closer in style to the natural wines from southern France than to Catalan wines. |
