Gin Roku
Availability: In stock
This unique Japanese craft Gin is produced by the famed Suntory Distillery, founded in Osaka at the beginning of the XXth century.
The beautiful kanji which illustrates the label is Roku, which means "Six" in Japanese. Indeed, this Japanese Gin is defined by that number. It comes in an hexagonal bottle with six sides, and it includes a blend of six Japanese botanicals.
The unique qualities of Roku Gin come from the combination of traditional botanicals, such as coriander, juniper and lemon peel, with the following indigenous ingredients: Sakura flower, Sakura leaf, Sansho pepper, Yuzu peel, Sencha tea and Gyokuro tea. The botanicals are aimed to highlight the characteristics of the four seasons of the year: sakura leaf and sakura flower - spring, sencha tea and gyokuro tea - summer, sansho pepper - autumn. and yuzu peel - winter.
A testament to Japanese craftmanship, Roku Gin was produced through four distillation methods and two still types (one of which a copper pot still). The label, too, was exquisitely produced: it is made of washi, the traditional Japanese paper which has been manufactured by hand for centuries using as a raw material plants of local flora.
Clean and transparent, this Japanese craft Gin has an amazingly delicate and multi-layered nose. A panoply of citrus (orange, blood orange, yuzu) with hints of flowers, spices and herbs. Smooth on the palate, with excellent integration of alcohol and a delicately spicy finish provided by the Sansho pepper. All in all, Roku Gin provides an experience almost as enchanting as watching the sunrise from the top of Mount Fuji.
