Availability: In stock
Year after year, the remarkable wine Salanques of the Mas Doix winery stands out as one of DOQ Priorat's most characterful reds.
A blend of old-vines Grenache and Carignan with 10% Syrah, this Spanish red wine is sourced from 25-30 year old vineyards planted in steep slate slopes at altitudes between 350 and 500 metres above sea level.
Each parcel of vines was meticulously harvested and selected, after which they were separately vinified. The alcoholic fermentation of this Crianza red wine was carried out in stainless steel tanks, with periodic punch-downs of the solid skin cap.
After that, the wine Salanques 2021 went through malolactic fermentation in new and used French oak barrels, in which it was subsequently aged for 12-14 months.
Bottled unfined and unfiltered in March 2023, this red wine from Priorat was aged for 12+ months in the bottle before its release.
Decant 2 hours before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Salanques is deep purple with a ruby rim. |

Nose | While showing the trademark minerality of the Priorat region, the nose of this blend of Grenache, Carignan and Syrah has an elegance very much of its own. Pristine ripe fruit, subtle remembrances of flowers, spicy remembrances, notes of cocoa and coffee, and a dash of Mediterranean garrigue. |
Palate | This red wine of the Mas Doix winery is flavourful and detailed, seamlessly merging pure drinking pleasure and intellectual stimulation. Smooth texture and exceptional balance between fruit and oak ageing, with a taut acidity, a deep mineral undercurrent and a very long, ever-evolving finish. |
Our personal opinion | We definitely have a soft spot for the red wine Salanques 2021. |
