Red Wine San Vicente 2021
Availability: In stock
This is the 2021 vintage of this rare Spanish red wine from La Rioja. Indeed, the wine San Vicente is the only varietal Tempranillo Peludo ("Hairy Tempranillo") available on the market.
A delicate and refined variety, Tempranillo Peludo was rescued from an almost sure extinction by the Señorío de San Vicente winery in the early 1980s. This winery is located next to its vineyards in the city of San Vicente de La Sonsierra, in Rioja Alavesa.
After a meticulous harvest in which the grapes were selected on site and in the cellar, the fruit was manually destemmed and fermented for 10 days with their skins, with two pump-overs performed daily.
After a maceration period, this Reserva red wine underwent malolactic fermentation in 90% French and 10% American oak barrels.
After that, the wine San Vicente 2021 was aged for 20 months, during which period it was drawn-off every 4 months. It was aged for a further months in the bottle before its commercial release.
Decant this red wine from La Rioja a minimum of 1 hour before drinking.
