The whisky Suntory Hakushu 12 is a classy Single Malt whisky crafted by the Hakushu distillery in the beautiful Minami Alps area, an unspoilt mountainous region in south Japan. The distillery is one of the very few in the world sitting over 700 metres above sea level.
This Japanese whisky was crafted blending two non-peated whiskies, respectivelly matured in American oak barrels and Sherry seasoned oak barrels, and a peated whisky matured in American oak barrels. After a 12-year maturation, the result is a lightly peated Hakushu whisky.
Golden-coloured with some amber reflections, the whisky Suntory Hakushu 12 proudly exhibits the green and grassy character typical of the Hakushu whiskies. Lively aromas of green apples and pears, with intimations of mint, kiwi, green tea, basil and damp scrubland. The palate of this Single Malt from Japan is fresh and very attractive, combining some salty notes with a sweet counterpart of candied citrus, fudge and sultanas, ending with a floral, herbaceous and berryish note.
