Red Wine Terroir al Límit Dits del Terra 2021
Availability: In stock
This terroir-bound Spanish red wine is one of the three "Vins de Coster" (literally meaning "Slope wines") produced by Terroir al Límit, the most Burgundian of all Priorat wineries.
Rather fittingly, Terroir al Límit Dits del Terra is a varietal Carignan, the grape variety that probably expresses best the rugged slate soils of the region.
This varietal red wine from Priorat is produced from three little parcels situated on steep, south-oriented slopes with llicorella soils. The vines, over 80 years old, are farmed following the guidelines of biodynamic agriculture.
Harvested by hand, the grapes were meticulously selected, macerated for a couple of weeks and whole bunch fermented with indigenous yeasts in concrete diposits.
After that, Terroir al Límit Dits del Terra 2021 was aged for 10 months in the same diposits. It is worth mentioning, incidentally, that the Terroir al Límit winery has ceased using oak to age its wines.
To appreciate this Crianza red wine in its full glory, you should decant it at least 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance | The red wine Terroir al Límit Dits del Terra is medium ruby with a violet rim. |
---|---|
Nose | Fresh and intense, with an excellent definition and an incipient complexity, this old-vines Carignan opens with some deep mineral undertones, along with fresh, pristine notions of red berries, cocoa and red flowers. There is a subtle, insinuating background of tree bark, Mediterranean garrigue, menthol and dry earth. |
Palate | As usual, the Carignan variety shows a seriousness and a depth matched by very few grapes. Exceptionally pure and terroir-oriented, this wine of the Terroir al Límit winery is sinewy, fluid and very precise. There are some earthy remembrances, marvelous notes of wild berries and bitter cocoa, a panoply of aromatic herbs and a focused, razor-sharp character. Long, spellbinding finish with some mineral undertones. |
Our personal opinion | Once again, winemaker Dominik Huber has done an awfully nice job with Dits del Terra 2021. An age-worthy red, this wine hides many subtleties and niceties, so be sure to decant it if you want to enjoy it now. |
