Details

The compelling Tros Negre Notaria comes from a 1.5 hectares plot located in a privileged environment in the heart of DO Montsant. Thus, this is a true terroir-driven wine.

A varietal Grenache, this Spanish red wine was crafted by famed producer Alfredo Arribas from very old, almost centenary vineyards.

The harvest was carried out manually, and the grapes were meticulously selected both on site and in the cellar. Once there, they were cold-soaked and fermented in stainless steel tanks with indigenous yeasts. Then Tros Negre Notaria 2016 was aged for 10 months in French oak barrels.

Full of finesse and nuance, this red wine from Montsant should be decanted at least 1 hour before drinking.

Appearance

The red wine Tros Negre is medium ruby with a garnet rim.

Nose

Rich and ever-evolving, this varietal Grenache first conveys aromas of blueberries, red fruit, orange rind, liquorice, cinnamon and toffee, underpinned by a deep mineral layer, evolving into notes of violets, lavender, dry earth and Mediterranean garrigue.

Palate

This red wine from Alfredo Arribas is supple and remarkably complex. Hints of toast, Eastern spices and balsam, lively notes of redcurrants, raspberries and strawberries, some floral and mineral nuances and a dash of citrus and even apricots. Smooth-bodied, with a tense acidity and a long, complex finish with some mineral and earthy notions.

Our personal opinion

Definitely not your typical Grenache, Tros Negre Notaria 2016 is an ode to Mediterranean finesse.

top!!
Value
The quality of this Grenache is only matched by those produced in Gredos. This seems to have more flesh, but it ends in an aerial, weightless note. Top!!
