Availability: In stock
The prestigious Bodegas Valduero produces the wine Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva from vineyards situated at 840 and 900 metres above sea level, two of highest sites in DO Ribera del Duero. The soils are made from clay and limestone, punctuated by areas of sand. Climate is continental.
Made solely from Tinto Fino grapes, this Spanish red wine was sourced from over 50-year old, low-yielding vines.
Harvested by hand and selected on site, the grapes were fermented and macerated under controlled temperature for 8 days.
Then this Reserva red wine was macerated for 10 days with daily pump-overs. The wine was subsequently transferred into oak barrels of different origins (French, American and Central European.)
After that, the wine Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva 2017 was aged for 30 months in the barrels and for a further 18 months in the bottle.
Slowly approaching its peak, but not quite there yet, this red wine from Ribera del Duero should be decanted 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva is deep ruby with a purple rim. |

Nose | This varietal Tinto Fino carries seductive aromas of fine wood, toast, coffee, cocoa and leather, evolving into withered leaves, pine needles, dry earth and blackcurrants. A complex, ever-evolving nose. |
Palate | With a bold entrance onto the palate, this wine of Bodegas Valduero has a solid structure, powdery tannins and a very good acidity. Terroir-oriented and complex, with suggestions of dry earth, forest berries, black truffles, tree bark, coffee, cocoa powder and spices. Long, slightly bitter finish. |
Our personal opinion | The deep and richly layered red wine Valduero 2 Cotas Reserva 2017 will pair wonderfully with stews, game dishes and cured cheeses. |
