Red Wine Vall del Calàs 2021

The red wine Vall del Calàs is made from a blend of Grenache and just a 15% Carignan, coming from organically farmed vineyards. They have granite and clay soils, typical of the Montsant region.
Manually harvested and selected twice, each of the grape varieties was separately vinified according to its specific requirements.
After being destemmed, the grape bunches were macerated for 14-20 days and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Then this Spanish red wine started malolactic fermentation and was subsequently transferred into new and 2nd year French oak barrels, where it completed the process and was aged for a period of 12 months.
Finally, Vall del Calàs 2021, produced by the Celler de Capçanes winery, was blended and aged for a further 3 months in the cellar prior to its release, so that it could naturally stabilize.

Nose | The wine has a suggestive and layered nose, as one could expect from a blend of Grenache and Carignan. Ripe red berries, with suggestions of clove, vanilla and thyme, combined with some mineral and balsamic undertones. |
Palate | Well-balanced and characterful, this red wine from Celler de Capçanes is fruit-driven and gently spicy. Smooth tanins and crisp acidity, with a dimly mineral background and a long, expressive mineral finish. |
Our personal opinion | A finely crafted red wine, Vall de Calàs 2021 will pair wonderfully with BBQs, roasted meats and cured Manchego cheeses |
