Product Description
Details

Despite the fact that Castile has never had a reputation for its white wines, the wine Vallegarcía Viognier is a varietal Viognier that should not be overlooked.

Produced by the Pago de Vallegarcía winery, this varietal Spanish white wine is sourced entirely from a 5-hectare parcel located in a pristine environment, surrounded by forests, in the very heart of the Toledo Mountains.

Harvested by hand, the grapes were fully destemmed and then cold-soaked for 12 hours at a low temperature.

Then 80% of this white wine from Toledo was fermented in stainless steel tanks, and the other 20% completed the process in French oak barrels.

After that, the wine Vallegarcía Viognier 2022 from DO Pago Vallegarcía was aged on its lees in the barrels for a period of 6 months.

Finally, this white wine from Castilla y León was further aged for 6 months in the bottle prior to its commercial release.

Aerate some time before drinking.

Appearance

The wine Vallegarcía Viognier is medium yellow with some greenish tinges.

Nose

This varietal Viognier is refined and complex. Aromas of ripe peaches and apricots, with a sprinkle of citrus, toast, pepper, aniseed, fennel and bitter herbs over a smokey background.

Palate

This white wine from Pago de Vallegarcía is balanced, substantial and savoury.  Some bitter nuances, creamy white fruit, vanilla, cinnamon, pomelo and blood orange. Well-balanced acidity and a lush texture, with a long, complex finish.

Our personal opinion

The wine Vallegarcía Viognier 2021 will pair wonderfully with a truffled turkey or a roast duck. If you feel adventurous, try pairing it with Oriental cuisine.

Viognier is a white grape with little natural acidity to counteract its tropical and aromatic exuberance. This wine manages to overcome that fact. This is fresh, and of course luscious and super tasty.
