The legendary González Byass winery from Jerez is makes the vermouth Vermut La Copa Rojo from an old house recipe unearthed from its archives that dates from 1896.
This refined vermouth from Jerez is produced with a base wine made from Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez soleras over 8 years of age, which is then macerated with a selection of 8 botanical plants: wormwood, summer savory, clove, orange, nutmeg, cinnamon, angelica and chinchona bark.
Ruby-coloured with some reddish reflections, the vermouth Vermut La Copa Rojo carries spicy and balsamic suggestions, with overtones of dry fruit and an oxidative, Sherry-like note. On the palate, this Spanish red vermouth is subtle, elegant and just a tad sweet, with an old-style elegance, a remarkable balance and a long, mildly bitter finish.
