Founded in 1886, the Gómez Cruzado winery is the producer of the wine Viña Dorana Reserva, which takes the place of the wine Gómez Cruzado Reserva.
This Spanish red wine is made from 60% Tempranillo and 40% Grenache, sourced from vineyards rich in iron and clay located in the Alto Najerilla zone, between 610 and 700 metres above sea level.
In DOCa Rioja, the 2017 vintage will be remembered as the "year of the frost", which nonetheless produced grapes of exceptional quality.
The grapes went through a very meticulous sorting process before being cold-macerated for 4 days and fermented in stainless steel tanks, with gentle pump-overs and throughout the process.
After that, the red wine Viña Dorana Reserva 2017 was aged for 24 months in 2nd and 3rd year French oak barrels. Before being released onto the market, this red wine from La Rioja was aged for 12 months minimum in the bottle.
37,000 bottles produced.
Aerate this Reserva red wine before drinking.

Nose | This blend of Tempranillo and Grenache just screams Rioja. Blackberries, ripe raspberries and blueberry preserve, with a dash of clove and cardamom, some pipe tobacco and hints of wet undergrowth, smoke and vanilla. |
Palate | Well-rounded and pleasant, this red wine of bodega Gómez Cruzado has some plush tannins, a lively acidity and a fleshy core of dark fruit, with a long, gently spicy finish with a remembrance of dark berries, herbs and lavender. |
Our personal opinion | The wine Viña Dorana Reserva 2017 will pair phenomenally well with roasted meats and casseroles. |
