Red Wine Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011

One of La Rioja's absolute classics, Viña Tondonia Reserva is crafted from a traditional blend of 70% Tempranillo, 20% Grenache and 10% Graciano and Mazuela (aka Carignan).
The 2011 vintage was "Excellent", according to the Rioja Regulatory Board.
Meticulously harvested and selected during September, the vinification of the grapes was carried out following the same techniques that, established more than a century ago, have put bodega R. López de Heredia-Viña Tondonia winery in a class of its own.
Once the process was completed, this Spanish red wine from was aged for 6 years in oak barrels, with two annual rackings.
Prior to its bottling, Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011 was clarified with egg whites. It was not filtered, however, in order to preserve its traditional character.
Pair this reserva red wine with roast recipes, casseroles, cured cheeses and premium cold cuts.
Aerate this red wine from La Rioja some time before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Viña Tondonia Reserva is medium ruby with a brick red rim. |

Nose | This blend of Tempranillo, Grenache, Graciano and Mazuela is deep and enticing. Spicy notes of vanilla and clove, along with fine leather, smoke and withered herbs. As the wine opens, it shows notes of ripe red fruit, some remembrances of flowers and a dash of tobacco, cocoa and arabica coffee. |
Palate | Classicisim at its best. This wine from R. López de Heredia - Viña Tondonia is fresh, linear and smooth. Tense acidity, supple tannins and long, dreamy persistance with a tint of Havana cigars, cedar desk and Oriental spices. |
Our personal opinion | A prime example of Rioja classicism, Viña Tondonia Reserva 2011 is balanced and exquisite. Pair with Foie Gras or with premium Ibérico ham and you'll experience gastronomic nirvana. |
