The wine Mas Estela Vinya Selva de Mar is born in the ruggedly beautiful landscape of Cap de Creus, a headland located in the northern tip of DO Empordà, Catalonia, at a distance of roughly 25 km from the French border. The Cap de Creus is the easternmost part of the Iberian Peninsula.
This blended Spanish red wine is produced by the Mas Estela winery, a family project committed to organic and biodynamic farming since its inception almost 25 years ago.
Made from 50% Grenache and 50% Syrah, the grapes are sourced from a terraced vineyard with slate soils constantly exposed to the implacable tramuntana, a northern wind that acts as a sanitizing agent and naturally increases grape concentration.
After a cold pre-fermentation maceration, the hand-picked, fully destemmed grapes were fermented under controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks for 28 days.
Then this organic red wine from L’Empordà was transferred into new French oak barrels and aged for 20 months.
Once bottled, the wine Mas Estela Vinya Selva de Mar 2018 was kept for some years in the cellar before being released onto the market.

Palate | Rounded and balanced, this wine of bodega Mas Estela carries a classic soul in a Mediterranean body, with a spicy and balsamic edge to the savoury red fruit and deep mineral underpinnings, with notes of warm stones and herbs de Provence, ending with a savoury berryish note. |
