Red Wine Voltons 2020
Availability: In stock
The 2020 vintage of the wine Voltons, made by the La Conreria de Scala Dei winery, is a blend of the traditional varieties Carignan and Grenache
This top-notch Spanish red wine is entirely sourced from the Voltons lieu-dit, a vineyard with llicorella soils located in the village of La Viella Alta, not far from Scala Dei, the spiritual heart of Priorat. The Carignan comes from 75 and 110-year-old vines, and the Grenache ones are around 20 years of age.
The grapes were first cold-macerated and then fermented with the skins in stainless steel tanks, where they were also aged for some months. After that, this red wine from Priorat was aged in 500-litre French and Austrian oak barrels for 12 months.
Finally, the red wine Voltons 2020 was aged for a minimum of 18 months in the bottle before its commercial release.
Decant this Crianza red wine at least 1 hour before drinking.
Appearance | The red wine Voltons is medium ruby with a puprplish rim. |

Nose | Surprisingly fresh and refined. Pristine aromas of blackberries, boysenberries and red currants, delicate floral nuances, and enticing notes of Mediterranean herbs set this blend of Grenache and Carignan apart from most Priorat red wines. There is also a smokey and mineral background -but, again, gentle and subdued. |
Palate | This wine from La Conreria de Scala Dei has a fresh, poised palate which is a far cry from the more brooding character of some top Priorat red wines. Loose and spacious, with smooth tannins, gentle mineral notes and succulent fruit. It has a long, assured and wonderfully evocative finish. |
Our personal opinion | When bridled power meets gentleness the result is the red wine Voltons 2020. This world-class Priorat has the authenticity and elegance of the best Brunellos. |
