Bullas
Situated in the northwestern part of the Murcia region, the Denominación de Origen Bullas, which has its capital the village of the same name, was legally created in 1994. The geographical area encompassed by this Designation of Origin comprises 11 villages, located between 400 and 900 metres above sea level. Climate is typically Mediterranean, with hot summers and moderate rainfall throughout the year.
Despite the origins of viticulture in DO Bullas going back over 2,600 years, grape cultivation did not become widespread until Roman times, as attested by the archaeological remains found in the village of Bullas.
The main variety of DO Bullas is Monastrell, which may be blended with Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah, Tempranillo and Grenache. The most representative white varieties are Macabeo and Airén.
As regards winemaking, it is a combination of traditional methods and cutting-edge technology, aimed at maximizing quality through environmentally sustainable and eco-friendly procedures.
