Hennessy

The world’s foremost premium spirits producer.

Founded in the Charente region in the year 1756 by Irishman Richard Hennessy, officer in the service of the King of France, the Hennessy distillery soon became known for the exceptional quality of its brandies. A branch of the French luxury conglomerate LVMH, Hennessy is currently the world’s most prestigious producer of premium spirits, present in over 160 countries.

The quality of the Hennessy products rests upon four pillars: terroir, vinification, ageing and blending. The Charente region, with boasts some excepcional vineyards such as the Grande Champagne and the Petite Champagne crus, has a maritime climate with limestone-rich soils that provide excellent conditons for growing the traditional Cognac varieties: Ugni Blanc, Folle Blanche and Colombard.

The production and subsequent ageing process of the Hennessy cognac are meticulous and exquisitely precise. After a double distillation in copper stills, the best eau-de-vies are aged for a substantial period of time -sometimes even decades- in high-quality French oak barrels coming from the Tronçais and Limousin forests. Finally, each of the bottlings of the Hennessy distillery is created by a master blender from the Filloux family combining several vintages and crus, which results in cognacs of unrivalled subtlety and elegance.
