Penderyn

Penderyn

The Penderyn Distillery is the first distillery founded in Wales.

Founded in 2000 with the name of “Welsh Whisky Company”, the Penderyn distillery was the first commercial distillery established in Wales after a more than 100-year hiatus. The company is named after the village of Penderyn, located in the foothills of the Brecon Beacons National Park , in the region of Rhondda Cynon Taf.

One of the world’s smallest distilleries, Penderyn is equipped with just one copper still. Current production is around 85,000 bottles, which will steadily increase in the near future.

The Penderyn whiskies are made using the site’s own supply of fresh spring water, sourced from directly beneath the distillery.

The Single Malt Whiskies from Penderyn, like Penderyn Single Malt Welsh, are matured in ex-Bourbon barrels and finished in ex-Madeira casks, which give them a unique personality.
