Alión

Bodegas Alión is the modern take on Ribera del Duero of the Álvarez Family, owners of legendary Vega Sicilia.

Founded in 1992, Bodegas y Viñedos Alión de Ribera del Duero was created with the aim of producing wines that, while maintaining the incomparable quality standards of Vega Sicilia, were nonetheless more approachable on a day-to-day basis. The name “Alión” is an homage to the region of birth of David Álvarez, the family patriarch.

From the outset, the wines produced by Bodegas Alión aroused great interest locally and internationally.

The first vintage was released in 1995, and was sold almost immediately. From that moment on, the Alión wines enjoyed a reputation which has not ceased to increase over the years.

The vineyards of the Alión winery are planted in sandy soils on terraces with good drainage located near the Duero river. The winery produces only red wines from some of the best Tinta Fina vineyards of the region.
