Aretheal

The personal project of Marc Aguiló in Priorat.

A boutique winery, Bodega Aretheal is the personal project of Mr. Marc Aguiló, the co-owner of Aguiló Vinateria, the best wine shop in Falset, the capital of the Priorat wine region. After two decades selling Priorat wines to costumers around the world, in 2019 Mr. Aguiló started to produce wines under his own label.

The name Aretheal is a portmanteau of the Greek word “arethé” – meaning virtue or excellence – and the English term “ethereal”. The wines of Aretheal aspire to convey that combination of excellence and subtlety, while taking a fresh look at the DOQ Priorat terroir.

The wines of the Aretheal winery are sourced from three small plots composed basically of llicorella (slate) soils, located between 530 to 580 metres of altitude, in the Colls de Porrera area, halfway between Falset and Porrera. Farmed following the principles of organic viticulture, the vineyards are planted with the traditional varieties Grenache, Carignan and White Grenache.

The wine catalogue of bodega Aretheal comprises four wines: a white wine, two reds and a centenary Carignan.
