Avancia
Elegance, expressiveness, terroir. These are the main characteristics of the wines that Jorge Ordóñez produces through Bodegas Avancia in the Galician region of Valdeorras.
A staunch believer in the possibilities of the DO Valdeorras, and a lover of the local varieties, Jorge Ordóñez created Bodegas Avancia, also known as Bodegas Avanthia, to show the world the unique personality of the old Mencía - the region's most important red variety - and Godello - the main white one - grapevines of the area.
The vineyards were planted in 1975 in steep slopes composed of slate soils, at an altitude of 500 metres above sea level.
The winery's approach to winemaking is meticulous and almost artisanal. All of the wines by Avancia winery are fermented in French oak barrels.
Besides Bodegas Avancia and Bodegas La Caña, both located in Galicia, Grupo Jorge Ordóñez, one of Spain's most important wine producers, also owns Bodegas Breca, based in Aragón, Jorge Ordóñez & Co., in the province of Málaga, and Bodega Volver, which produces wines through the Mediterranean coast.
