Bodega Mano a Mano
The Mano a Mano winery is a young project based in Castilla-La Mancha wich crafts surprisingly expressive wines.
Created in 2003, Bodega Mano a Mano produces wines from over 30-year-old, low-yielding grapevines grown under an extreme climate in soils composed of clay, limestone and pebble stones, with yields under 2 kilograms per plant. The main variety is Tempranillo, locally known as Cencibel because of its slightly different character, with a thicker skin and a softer flesh than other Tempranillo clones.
The company owns 300 hectares of old vineyards in the town of Alhambra, belonging to the northern Spanish province of Ciudad Real. Nevertheless, it is also experimenting with international varieties, such as Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon and Touriga Nacional. Some of those varieties feature in the blend of Venta La Ossa, arguably the company's best-known red wine.
