Bodega Trus-Palacios Vinos de Finca
A branch of Bodegas Palacios Vinos de Finca, Bodega Trus produces elegant wines in Ribera del Duero.
Bought by Bodegas Palacios Vinos de Finca in 1999, Bodega Trus is a château-style winery surrounded by vineyards distributed over a 2-kilometre perimeter around the main facility.
Sitting at 800 metres of altitude, Bodega Trus has 600 hectares of vineyards situated in the vicinities of three villages: Piñel de Abajo, Pesquera de Duero and Quintanilla de Arriba. Currently in the process of being organically certified, the vineyards are split into 14 different parcels of Tinto Fino (Tempranillo), with different soil compositions -clay, calcareous or mixed- sun orientations and gradients.
An acronym for “Tierra, Roble, Uva, Sol” (earth, oak, grapes and sun), the name Trus encapsulates the winemaking philosophy of the company and its commitment to terroir. The grapes are meticulously harvested and selected, after which they are handled only by gravity in order to keep the fruit in the best possible condition.
After that, the grapes are fermented and macerated uncrushed in 25,000-litre French oak vats. The ageing room contains 600 French oak barrels, in which the Trus wines are aged for 12 months on average.
