Bodegas Tritón

Bodegas Tritón is a branch of the Orowines Group based in Castilla y León. A winery that crafts intense red wines from indigenous grapes coming from very old vineyards.

The Bodegas Tritón winery is one of the seven wineries owned by the Orowines Group (Orowines can be translated as “Golden Wines”).  

Following the indigenous, terroir-oriented philosophy that informs the spirit of the Orowines Group, Bodegas Tritón winery crafts all of their wines from three local grape varieties. The first one is Tempranillo or, as it is known in the province of Zamora, Tinta de Toro. Properly speaking, though, Tinta de Toro and Tempranillo, despite being very similar, are not exactly the same grape. Scientists say that Tinta de Toro is actually a genetic mutation of Tempranillo with higher tannin content. This grape produces wines of legendary boldness and great ageing potential.

The second indigenous grape used by the Bodegas Tritón winery is Mencía, well-known for being the main red grape of the El Bierzo region. Finally, the winery also uses Prieto Picudo, a long-forgotten variety that displays exceptional acidity and an ageing potential similar to that of Tinta de Toro.

The wines by the Bodegas Tritón winery are intense, complex, and powerful. All of them have been masterly aged in French oak barrels.
