Borsao

Borsao

Expressive and substantial, the wines of Bodegas Borsao highlight the specific character of the Campo de Borja region.

Though created in 2001, the origin of Bodegas Borsao from Campo de Borja dates back to 1958, when the Borja co-op was started under the “Borsao” name. Many years later, in the late nineties, the co-ops of Pozuelo and Tabuenca, two neighbouring towns, merged with the Borja one, thus giving birth to Bodegas Borsao winery. Immediately afterwards, the new managing team redefined the overall winemaking approach, both in the field and in the cellar, in order to increase the quality of the wines.

Belonging to the northern Spanish province of Aragón, the designation of origin Campo de Borja is a region with a Continental climate, with cold winters, hot summers and the strong influence of a chilly northeastern wind called “Cierzo”. Besides, there are great temperature differences between daytime and nighttime.

Some of Spain's absolute top values, the wines by Bodegas Borsao from Aragón have a lively acidity which nicely counterbalances the juicy and fruit-driven character of the Grenache variety, the main ingredient of the wines.
