Carles Andreu

Carles Andreu

A family-owned winery from Conca de Barberà.

Located in Conca de Barberà, southern Catalonia, Celler Carles Andreu was founded in 1991 by Mr. Carles Andreu, the heir of an old wine family from the region. Besides putting the family vineyards back to work, Mr. Andreu also recovered Can Celdoni, an old manor house dating from 1759, which was refurbished in order to meet modern winemaking requirements.

Nowadays, Celler Carles Andreu winery grows about 80 hectares of vineyards in the heart of DO Conca de Barberà. They are scattered across the towns of Pira, Forès, Sarral, Solivella, Barberà de la Conca and Montblanc. The main variety is Trepat, a low-alcohol red grape indigenous to the region, followed by Macabeo, Parellada and Chardonnay, which adds an elegant touch to the winery’s sparkling wines.

In 2004, the facilities of Celler Carles Andreu were expanded to satisfy production needs. Both the fermentation and the storage room were enlarged, and a new underground cave for ageing the wines was also built.

All Carles Andreu wines and cavas are made from their own vineyards, with limited productions where tradition and quality come together to give frank expressions with all the character of this area.
