Chivite

Chivite

Bodegas Chivite is the most prestigious winery in the DO Navarra.

There is written evidence that the Chivite Family already owned vineyards and a winery back in the year 1647. In 1860, Claudio Chivite took advantage of the crisis that was affecting French wine -caused by the Oidium disease-and began exporting wines to the north to meet the enormous demand. Nowadays, Bodega Julián Chivite is headed by Julián Chivite López, eleventh generation of the family saga.

The 600 hectares of vineyards owned by Chivite winery benefit from two remarkable features: the clay- limestone soils and the cooling Atlantic influence. The impressive, state-of-the-art facilities were designed by the Spanish architect and Pritzker Price winner Rafael Moneo.

In 1985, the brand launched the Colección 125 wines series to commemorate its first export venture. One particularly remarkable item of the collection is the rosé wine Chivite, one of Spain's absolute best. Over the last years, the Chivite Family Estates winery has raised its level of environmental conscience, favouring sustainable agricultural procedures and launching a collection of organic wines.
