Dosterras

A project born out of a passion for the old vines of Montsant, Bodega Dosterras makes exquisite artisan wines.

In 2012, Fernando Grajales, a member of the Ibarra wine family from Mexico, visited Montsant and fell in love with a two-hectare plot of old-vines Grenache. He decided on the spot to produce a wine from those old vines, for wich he sought the techincal supervision of oenologist Noemí Javierre. That was the origin of Bodega Dosterras, which was created one year later. A boutique winery, nowadays it makes small amounts of high-quality wines folowing environementally sustainable farming techniques and a minimal intervention winemaking approach.

Merging traditional know-how and state-of-art technology, the aim of Celler Dosterras winery is to produce wines that meet the highest standards of qualitiy and elegance, while remaining faithful to the characteristics of the exceptional Montsant terroir. With that in mind, the winery cultivates the red varieties Grenache, Samsó (Carignan), Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Ull de Llebre (Tempranillo), as well as the white varieties Macabeo and White Grenache.

The harvest of the grapes is always done by hand. Since no two vintages are equal, vinification and aging procedures also very according to the specific conditions of each year. Those changes notwithstanding, the goal of Dosterras winery remains the same: to craft elegant, authentic wines which showcase the unique personality of the old Montsant vines. To further enhance their qualities, this wines from Montsant are aged in French oak barrels of different origins.
