Finca La Font de Jui

Founded in 2006 by a graduate of University of California Davis, bodega Finca La Font de Jui is based in Subirats, Alt Penedès, in the heart of DO Penedès. The winery makes only estate wines, sourcing its grapes from Finca Font de Jui, also known as La Pedra Blanca (“the white stone”). This is a 11.5-hectare certified organic vineyard with deep and well-drained limestone and clay-loam soils, managed in a respectful, holistic and minimalistic manner, using no herbicides, pesticides or synthetic chemicals whatsoever.

Contrary to most new wine projects in Catalonia, the Finca La Font de Jui winery grows only international varieties; namely, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. There is also a small extension of Vermentino, an Italian white variety from the Liguria area – though it is thought to have its ancestral origin in Catalonia – with a remarkable acidity and a noteworthy complexity.

Like the viticultural practices, the winemaking methodology of bodega Finca La Font de Jui is focused on achieving maximum terroir expression through a hands-off approach – which implies carrying out spontaneous fermentations and the natural clarification of the wines through the winter months .- The product range of Finca La Font de Jui comprises mainly DO Clàssic Penedès sparkling wines, both traditional and Pét-Nat. Besides, the winery produces still wines under the DO Penedès label.
