Finca Vegas

The seed of bodega Finca Vegas was planted in 1997, when Stan Weytjens, Belgian-born real estate developer and current honorary consul of the Netherlands in Tenerife, first visited the village of Las Vegas and was smitten by the beauty of the estate from which the winery would eventually take its name.

After acquiring the estate in 2003, Mr. Weytjens launched an ambitious, quality-oriented and terroir- driven wine project aimed at capturing and highlighting the spirit of the land. A family-run business, bodega Finca Vegas is currently managed by first-born Antony Weytjens, who studied oenology at the University of Bordeaux and did a stint in Napa Valley before taking charge of the company.

Located at 600 metres above seal level, in the midst of a majestic natural landscape, the Finca Vegas winery has an extension of 7 hectares, 2.5 of which are under vine. The winery grows mainly indigenous varieties, such as Baboso Blanco, Listán Blanco, Castellana Negra and Albillo Criollo, as well as a small extension of Syrah. The vineyards have sandy-volcanic soils which are characteristic of the Canary Islands. Viticulture follows sustainable criteria and applies organic farming techniques.

Made principally from Tenerife’s indigenous varieties, the wine catalogue of Finca Vegas wines consists of mostly white wines. The winery makes also a young rosé wine and a varietal red wine from Castellana Negra.
