This young and jaunty project aims to highlight the singularity of the wines from Sierra de Montilla.

Based in Lagar Cañada Navarro, in the heart of Sierra de Montilla, bodega Los Insensatos de la Antehojuela is an exciting new winery born in one of Spain’s most tradition-bound regions. Founded by a group of passionate wine lovers headed by oenologist Fátima Ceballos, the project aims to reinterpret the local traditions through a modern lens. This kind of initiative, in which respect for the old is laced with a healthy dose of irreverence, was something the Montilla region badly needed.

The flagship white variety of the Montilla-Moriles region, Pedro Ximénez is the main ingredient of most wines of the Los Insensatos de la Antehojuela winery. A very versatile grape, and all the more so in the expert hands of the Insensatos winemaking team, it is used to produce a wide collection of wines, each with its own unique characteristics. Besides, the winery also grows Chardonnay, the international white variety par excellence, from which they are able to produce a very interesting wine.

The wines of the Los Insensatos de la Antehojuela winery are typically vinified in concrete vessels, as well as in stainless steel tanks and used French oak barrels. Produced in small batches, all the wines are aged on lees, and most of them are aged under the flor veil, a traditional method which accentuates the qualities of the Pedro Ximénez variety.
