Massís de L'Albera

Massís de L'Albera

Capturing the true essence of Empordà.

Founded and directed by Ot Uclés, a professional with many years of experience in the wine trade, the Massís de l’Albera winery has its headquarters in the village of Vilamaniscle, near the Natural Zone of Declared National Interest of the Albera in the DO Empordà. This is a mountainous area with slate soils frequently swept by a strong northern wine called tramuntana – which acts as a sanitizing agent and helps to concentrate flavours and aroma through a natural dessication of the grapes. – Both features, together with the demanding climate of the area, are responsible for the deeply mineral, characterful personality of the wines.

Bodega Massís de l’Albera grows essentially traditional varieties, such as Grenache, Carignan and, most importantly, Garnatxa Roja (aka Grey Grenache), indigenous to the region. There is also a Syrah vineyard, an international variety that has adapted quite well to the rugged Albera terroir.

Deep, savoury and nuanced, the wines of Massís de l’Albera winery convey the ancestral spirit of Empordà.
