Oriol Rossell
A quality producer of Cavas and still wines with centuries of history behind it.
Bodega Oriol Rossell has its headquarters in a modernist building dating from 1908 located within the Cal Cassanyes estate, dating from the XVIIth century (the date 1637 is engraved on a stone wall). The building overlooks the estate vineyards, located across the borderline between the high and low Penedès areas. The Cassanyes and Rossell families became related in 1810, beginning a winemaking tradition that continues to this day.
Located between Serralada Pre-Litoral and Serralada Litoral, close to the Mediterranean Sea, an area with excellent conditions for growing grapes, the vineyards of Oriol Rossell winery have an extension of roughly 85 hectares. The estate has different kinds of soils: poorer in the northern part and more fertile, rocky and gravely as one heads south. This Spanish winery is committed to practicing an organic and environmentally sustainable agriculture.
As regards varieties, Xarel·lo, Penedès’s most important variety is the most widely planted. The Oriol Rossell Cavas are produced following a traditional style and the typical DO Cava varieties Macabeo, Xarel·lo and Parellada, with the exception of the rosé Cava, made from Pinot Noir and Grenache.
The still red wines of the Oriol Rossell winery are made from Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir and Grenache. The still white wines are mostly made from Xarel·lo.
