Proelio - Palacios Vinos de Finca

This company produces terroir-bound wines in La Rioja and Ribera del Duero.

Currently operating in two of the most prestigious Spanish wine regions, Bodega Palacios Vinos de Finca is the parent company of three wineries. Its branches in DOCa Rioja are Bodega Nivarius and Bodega Proelio. The Ribera del Duero branch is called Bodega Trus.

As for the company we are presenting here, Bodega Proelio is focused on the production of quality wines from old vineyards planted at an average altitude of 750 metres above sea level, in some remote, little-explored areas of La Rioja.

The estate vineyards of Bodega Proelio-a word which means “battle” in Latin-are planted with the traditional varieties Grenache, Tempranillo, Graciano and Maturana. The vines are farmed with the utmost care, following old traditions but always keeping an eye on the latest winemaking innovations. The grapes are fermented in oak vats, with gentle extractions of colour and tannin, and then aged in 2,000-litre vats. Once blended, the wines are stabilized in concrete diposits before being bottled.

A labour of love, the distinctive personality of the Proelio wines brings back the great Riojas of the past.
